Tourism that benefits society, the economy and protects the environment is a powerful tool for community progress and for reducing inequality. It is important for local communities and all key actors to be involved in its development. Companies of the sector can contribute to urban renewal and rural development by helping to reduce regional imbalances and giving local communities the opportunity to prosper within their place of origin.16
